A-Rod comes up big!!!!???

I know, I know, some of you must be thinking you misread that title... but you did not. Savvybeast, avowed Yankee hater, dedicating a blog to A-Rod , the Yankees 25 million dollar man. He got a big hit tonight... I'm serious, he did. Game winning HR against the Atlanta Braves. A Braves team that isn't even .500. But still, A-Rod got a big hit... really. Oh, more importantly the Red Sox are trouncing the Mets. I like the Mets, but nothing holds tighter than Red Sox Nation!

Yes, my friend, A-Rod finaly comes through. And so what Braves are sub-500-they faced Smoltz, a borderline hall-of-famer, and were behind in a pressure packed situation. Everything has gone Boston's way this year (no major injuries-sorry, Willy Mo and Coco don't count) and the pitching has been better than originally thought. We'l see if Schilling holds up in August/September and if Papelbon continues to be big-although I admit I am extremely impressed with Papelbon. And my hat goes off to Big Papi and Manny (look at Manny's stats-they are incredible and he is reaching elite status as an all-time great hitter). A-Rod and Manny are nearly identical in career hitting stats-what will separate them come Cooperstown and their legacies? Will we live long enough? Oh, half way through this journey of life....

Correction-Smoltz- a can't miss Hall of Famer. A-Rod will make it to Cooperstown. They'll look at the 4 rings he will have by then, along with Jeter's 9, they'll go in together.

Manny may make it. Sympathy vote is what they call it.

Hey, the injury to David Wells counts as big... The Sox were counting on him, and have been patching it together.

The Sox were counting on an old fat man with a bad back? You don't see any flaw in that strategy?
